Individuals and marauding ‘Gangs of Terror’ have their days numbered following a terse warning issued by Kisumu County Police.
The law enforcement officers have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law, order and national cohesion.
Kisumu Central OCPD Peter Mutai said that they have declared war on crime.
“We are telling the criminals to change their behaviour or face the full force of the law. We are on a mission to ensure that people live and carry out their businesses peacefully,’ he added.
To show their intention to fight crime, they arrested a notorious robbery suspect named Austine Okech Ouma alias Farouk aged 22 years.
According to multiple police reports, Austine has been orchestrating and coordinating a high spate of criminal activities in several parts of Kisumu and its environs.
The runaway suspect’s days came to an end following a tip-off from the members of the public within the Manyatta SkyWay area in the lakeside city.
During the swift raid, a contingent of undercover police led by Kondele Police Station OCS Daniel Ogechi found him in possession of a blood-stained panga, and two knives.
At the time of his arrest, Austine had a freshly injured right wrist, which is believed to have been sustained during his robbery escapades.
According to a police report, the suspect was captured on a CCTV camera committing a robbery in the Kibos area in Kisumu East Sub-County.
“He was in the company of 10 others who are still at large. Fortunately, we have apprehended two of them, and we promise to bring to book the remaining ones,” Ogechi assured.
Austine assisted the police in arresting his accomplices, Charles Otieno alias Badman, and Rodgers Omondi.
Badman was nabbed at Kibos market by enforcing a criminal warrant issued by Senior Principal Magistrate (SPM) Winam Law Court.
Rodgers was also smoked out of hiding at Selina’s estate within Kisumu East.
He will be charged with robbery with violence after being found in possession of several Identification cards and sim cards.
The security heads thanked the public for their unwavering support in fighting crimes.
