KISUMU, Kenya, October-Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen has assured that President William Ruto will continue advancing the dreams that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga had of improving the country’s infrastructure networks.
Speaking at Arina AIC Church in Kisumu, CS Murkomen particularly singled out the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) line, which he noted will traverse many parts of Western Kenya, from Naivasha, Bomet, Kisumu, Busia, and Malaba, and then terminate in Uganda.
“During numerous talks between the two, I also overheard them discuss Rironi -Mau Summit Highway which will pass through Kericho, Kisumu and Busia. Another one will pass through Eldoret and end in Malaba,” he clarified.
Murkomen said the late Odinga had envisioned that the only way the country could grow was by improving infrastructure and upgrading energy. The proposed nuclear power plant in Siaya county will add some 10,000 megawatts to the national grid.
“We will also ensure that Kisumu International Airport is fully fledged with direct flights from overseas to boost socioeconomic and cultural exchange, growth and development of the country and the East African Community at large.”

He assured Kenyans of adequate security moving forward, which has been demonstrated by the government’s seizure of drugs worth Sh8.2 billion in the volatile waters of the West Coast Indian Ocean, 600 km off Mombasa city. He said the drugs would soon be destroyed.
The CS was flanked by Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, Women Representative Ruth Odinga and Kisumu Central MP Dr Joshua Oron.
The leaders lauded President Ruto for according Odinga a befitting burial, as they reiterated the luo community’s commitment to remain in the broad-based government -“Where Raila left us.”
