Kisumu DCI Nabs 3 Suspects Over Vihiga Senator Osotsi’s Brutal Attack

KISUMU, 9th April 2026 – Three suspects linked to the brazen attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi have been arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kisumu County.

Carlos Owiti, alias Kalonje (24), and Vincent Odhiambo, alias Tinga (27), both from the sprawling Nyalenda informal settlement, along with their accomplice Eric Otieno, alias Dude (39), from Manyatta, are connected to the assault that occurred on Wednesday, 8th April, at a local expansive mall.

As detectives are still in hot pursuit of the remaining suspects who are at large, the trio are currently being held in police custody, allegedly being part of the gang captured by grainy CCTV footage. They are awaiting processing to be charged in court.

The investigative agency has praised the public for providing tangible information that led to the capture of the suspects and calls for concerted efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects to face the law.

Senator Osotsi’s attack has been widely condemned by leaders across the political divide, terming it a barbaric and cowardly act.

“It was premeditated and orchestrated by hired goons. This negates the principles of freedom of speech and association as enshrined in the constitution,” they observed.

Most local leaders and residents voiced their concern over the rising acts of political hooliganism in the lakeside city, lamenting that it will scare away local, regional, and international investors.

Earlier in the day, police quelled reported riots in Luanda town and along the Kisumu-Kakamega road, as residents called for swift action from law enforcement agencies.

Senator Osotsi, who is the immediate former ODM Party leader is currently undergoing medical treatment at Karen Hospital, Nairobi, after being airlifted from Kisumu yesterday.
