KISUMU 23RD April 2026-The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is earnestly keen on laying well-structured foundation with the aim of making it one of the strongest political parties for the next 100 years in the country.
This, however, will be primarily based on the people-driven ideologies and philosophies to be advanced by the elected leaders from the grassroots levels.
Making remarks during the party’s grassroots elections in Kisumu County, Joshua Nyamori emphasized that the ruling party also intends to achieve this by strengthening it’s coalition ties with other like-minded partners such as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
“As a staunch member of UDA who has a firm belief in its ideals, I want it to be the voice of the people. That’s why we are building its foundation, and not only for the upcoming 2027 elections plebiscite, as “we all know that President William Ruto has already won,”‘ noted the upbeat Nyamori.
According to the lawyer and area resident, UDA is creating a bottoms up machine -the strongest grassroots base. To further show its intent, he said that the party’s registered voters are electing its leaders to represent various stakeholders from over 761 polling stations in Kisumu County.
“We have been here for four days to sensitize our members and the candidates. On Tuesday 21st April, we undertook training of our returning officers and clerks. This has led to remarkable turnout in the elections exercise,” Nyamori said.
The elected grassroots leaders will be involved in electing officials in the ward, sub- county, county and national delegates conference to be convened later.
He also stressed that UDA considers ODM as one of its great partners and we will continue to foster mutual cooperation moving forward to form the next government to 2032.
UDA,he added, will meet their counterparts’ top brass as equals they will continue to foster mutual cooperation moving forward to form the next government to 2032.
“We applaud the meeting today of top party organs of ODM and UDA to chart the way forward. We believe the joint communique will recognize the two as strong parties who share democratic ideals and well laid structures,” he explained.
Wading into the sticky issue of zoning which had threatened to split the two parties, Nyamori expressed optimism that coalition members will be accorded the opportunity to compete fairly.
“The naysayers are keen on killing democracy by championing for zoning.”
Praising the area residents for coming out in large numbers to register for national identity cards and Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) voters registration, he attributed this to robust mobilisation they undertook across the county in the last few months.
“We need to do much better with the few days remaining days and we believe that there will be a surge in new voters registration in the coming weeks,” he remarked as he added that ultimately the region will emerge as those with the tyranny of numbers.
“If we reach the same percentage of (52%) like other regions, then we will move from the current registered voters of approximately 606,000 to 800,000.”
On whether he is angling himself to vie for an elective post, he responded that: “it’s too early for one to declare for various seats and go for cut-throat competitions.”
Nyamori, however, urged that they first need to build their party structures and ensure that various mega development projects kick-started by President Ruto such as Affordable housings, Standard Gauge Railway, Rironi-Mau Summit Dual Carriage Way, among others across the country are completed.”
“I am qualified to run for any elective position (from Governor to Member of the County Assembly (MCA), and when the right times comes, we will state our position in accordance with the law,” he clarified.
