Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo Signs A Five-Year Deal with Manchester United

OLD TRAFFORD, Manchester, July 21 –After a protracted football transfer, Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo has finally joined Manchester United.

As one of the Red Devils marquee summer signings, the right-wing forward signed a contract for a fee of £71 million lasting until 2030 with an option for additional years.

The 26-year-old former Brentford player brings to three the number of Cameroon players who have donned the Red Devils shirt, such as Eric Djemba-Djemba (2003-2005), and their current custodian, Andre Onana, from 2023.

During his stint at the Bees, Mbeumo scored 70 goals and 51 assists in the Bees’ 242 games since joining from Troyes in 2019.

In the 2024-25 EPL season, he had a fine run of form scoring 20 goals and giving seven assists.

As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up,” said Mbeumo who has proved he can play multiple positions upfront since the Bees were promoted in 2021.

Accompanied by United’s Sporting Director Jason Wilcox,  Mbeumo remarked; “Everybody told me about the environment that is being created here and how exciting the plans are for the future. This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans, we are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies.”

Having registered a below-par performance and finishing 15th in last season’s log, Ruben Amorim’s side is keen on bolstering their attack and defence lines, and offloading some players.

They have secured the services of Brazilian Matheus Cunha (£62.5 million), Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon, and French player Enzo Kana-Biyik from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Cerro Porteno, and Le Havre.

Aiming to break their 12 years of savouring winning the EPL, and UEFA Champions League (Moscow-2008) glories, they are also in hot pursuit of a new striker after Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund experienced a woeful season.

United have locked their sight on Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko talismen, and Brighton’s diminutive midfielder Charles Baleba.

Argentina and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez and Portugal’s and Porto Number One, Diogo Costa are sought to sign for goalkeeping duties.

According to impeccable sources, Marcus Rashford, the striker for United, is close to joining Barcelona, the champions of La Liga, on a season-long loan that includes an option to buy.

Jadon Sancho is also highly tipped to pen down on paper for the Italian Serie A giants Juventus, with Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans also leaving the Sir Matt Busby-based side on free transfers.

Mbeumo is expected to feature for his new club in their American preseason tour.

They will play fixtures against EPL sides West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton scheduled in New York, Chicago and Atlanta, respectively.
