KISUMU, Oct 2026 -Current and pioneer Members of the Kisumu County Assembly have called on former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo to explain allegations that he mobilized groups from various counties to cause violence during Raila Odinga’s first anniversary commemorations in Bondo.
Speaking at a press conference in Kisumu on Monday, Kondele Ward Pioneer MCA Gabriel Ochieng said the leaders were compelled to respond to what he termed contradictory statements by Ndolo and his Linda Mwanainchi cohort.
“These are serious questions that cannot be brushed aside through political rhetoric. If the reported declaration is accurate, it raises legitimate concerns about deliberate mobilization of groups capable of provoking violence and intimidating political opponents,” Ochieng said.
The leaders claimed Ndolo publicly stated that goons had been ferried from Busia, Kisumu, and Luanda in readiness to unleash terror on ODM leaders.
They challenged him to clarify who mobilized the individuals, who financed their transportation, and what their intended mission was.
“It would be contradictory to accuse others of organizing political violence while publicly describing the mobilization of goons for a similar purpose,” Ochieng added.
The MCAs urged the National Police Service to investigate any credible allegations of planned violence impartially and hold anyone found culpable accountable, regardless of political affiliation.
“We firmly believe that political competition must be conducted through ideas, persuasion, and peaceful engagement, not intimidation, violence, or the mobilization of gangs,” Ochieng stated.
The leaders further cautioned politicians against making unsubstantiated accusations that inflame tensions and undermine public confidence, emphasizing that no political ambition is worth the blood of an innocent Kenyan.
“We demand transparency from all political actors and urge every leader to reject violence whether committed by supporters, opponents, or individuals acting in their own interest,” Ochieng reaffirmed.
The statement, signed by current Kisumu MCAs, pioneer MCAs, and other county leaders, comes amid continuing cross-party accusations over who disrupted Raila’s first anniversary ceremony.
