Kisii/Nyamira,7th July 2026 –Shine World Ministries is set to host a three-day gospel event at Kisii University from 10th to 12th July 2026, targeting spiritual renewal across Kisii and Nyamira counties.
Lead Evangelist Dr Sammy Wanyonyi said the mission marks the ministry’s first outreach in Kenya, despite having ministered in 34 to 35 countries worldwide.
“I am with Shine World Ministries. It is a great joy to be here in Kenya, specifically in Gusii Land. We are looking forward to a great time of ministry,” Dr Wanyonyi said.
He noted that while the ministry could have gone to any county, church leaders in Gusii extended an invitation that aligned with what he believes is God’s timing.
“We could have been in any other county, but I believe God has a very special purpose, a very special mission for Kisii right now. He loves them, He cares for them, and we are excited to be part of it,” he said.
The event is being organized alongside bishops and pastors from Kisii and Nyamira. Dr Wanyonyi said teams from the ministry have already been on the ground in the two counties mobilizing believers.
“We are anticipating a great move of the Holy Spirit, a great message of salvation to go forth, healing, hope, deliverance, and salvation all across Gusii Land. Wherever you are, I want to invite you to come out,” he added.
On why Kenya needs prayer at this time, Dr Wanyonyi said the country, like any other, is facing health, political, educational, and economic challenges.
“We’ve watched young people demonstrate on the streets. We’ve watched people cry for economic reasons. There are areas dealing with drought. I was getting a cry from the people of West Pokot saying their land is so dry, they need rain,” he said.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. As a people and as a nation, we want to experience the blessing of God. We can use the help of God. We can use the mercies of God.”
Asked about the church’s role in relation to politics and the economy, Dr Wanyonyi said the spiritual foundation must come first.
“Our mission is largely spiritual. When people get the spiritual right, they are able to get the other areas right,” he said.
“My message to everybody, including those in political and economic leadership, is that we need to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God. Those with economic potential should not exploit the poor, but look out for each other. Those in the political space should not engage in corruption. There is enough for all of us if we stand up for one another, pray for one another, and trust God above everything else.”
Pastors and bishops, clad in black T-shirts branded “Shine Gusii for Jesus,” assured residents of a Spirit-filled gathering.
The event will feature Kenyan gospel minister Evelyn Wanjiru, Tanzania’s Agape Gospel Band, Msanii Band, and Moji Short Baba, among other artistes and ministers.
“My final word to the people of Kisii and Nyamira is this: Please come to these amazing times of revival and renewal for the twin counties. God loves you. God cares for you. And we love you. We care for you,” Dr Wanyonyi said.
“On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, let us gather at Kisii University and celebrate the goodness, grace, and mercies of God in this hour. The message is that we should live this life with eternity in view, knowing that His love, compassion, and mercies are new every single day.”
