CAR WASH, Kisumu July 29 –Two suspected thugs were killed by a mob at Car Wash Estate in Kisumu after allegedly breaking into a house and stealing valuables.
The incident that happened at the wee hours of Monday morning at around 4 am, where five armed robbers with crude weapons broke into the rented house of one Dancan Moseti Onyiego, who was not in the house at the moment, but found his friend Benedict Wafula asleep.
Confirming the incident, Kisumu Central Deputy Sub-County Police Commander Baraka Mwanauli said the robbers woke Wafula up and warned him not to resist.
Baraka added that members of the public raised an alarm and pursued the robbers.
Police officers from the Lolwe post joined them and pursued the suspects to the carwash area. Two unknown male suspects were cornered, subjected to mob injustice and died on the spot from their injuries.
The scene was visited by officers led by OCS kondele police station Mr Daniel Ogechi, DCI Kondele and documented accordingly.
The two bodies were transferred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Mortuary for identification.
Police officers are still pursuing the other three suspects who escaped from the scene.
Baraka thanked the members of the public for their quick response in informing the police officers of the incident and urged them to continue collaborating with the police officers to eradicate the menace of burglary.
He further noted that investigations are ongoing in cases of such incidents that happened last week, in a case where two Mpesa shops were robbed at gunpoint within Kisumu CBD, among others.
Mr Mwanauli urged the public to keep calm as all investigations will be done thoroughly to establish those who have been terrorising the residents.
