KISUMU, Kenya, October – Police in Kisumu have arrested two suspects and recovered several stolen vehicles following an intelligence-led operation targeting a suspected motor vehicle theft syndicate on Monday night.
The operation was conducted by a contingent of officers from Migosi and Kasagam Police Stations, OCS Mr Dan Njoka, in Khayeko Junction and Aliwa Village within Kisumu East Sub-County.
According to Kisumu County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo, detectives raided one of the targeted homesteads, arresting two suspects, while one escaped.

Police also recovered more exhibits, including car radios, vehicle registration plates, and assorted spare parts.
“During the operation, two suspects were arrested and are currently assisting with the investigation,” Mr Benson Leparmorijo said during a media briefing in his office on Tuesday, 7th October.
“All recovered exhibits have been secured at Migosi Police Station as the process of verifying ownership continues.”
While commending the efforts by the sleuths, Mr Benson Leparmorijo said that efforts to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing as all the 11 vehicles are detained at Migosi police station yard, and investigations are still ongoing.
“We are determined to crack down on the issues of car theft in the county,” he added.

The arrested suspects are all booked at Migosi police station for the offence of having suspected stolen motor vehicles, as the main suspect, Evans Otieno Meda, still remains at large, and relentless efforts are being made to apprehend him.
In a follow-up report made on Wednesday, 8th of October, Mr Dan Njoka, OCS Kasagam police station, said an additional suspicious motor vehicle, Toyota Voxy, was also recovered from a rented house at the main suspect’s place, Mr Evans Otieno Meda, at Khayeko area and detained at Migosi police station yard.

Further, Mr Dan Njoka said a request letter for ownership verification by NTSA was done, and the report indicated that out of 12 cars now detained, only one car belongs to the main suspect, Evans Otieno Meda, while the remaining cars bear the names of persons from outside Kisumu county.
