Kasagam, 2nd August 2026-Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investivation (DCI) Nyanza Region, in collaboration with their counterparts in Kisumu East, have arrested three suspects linked to a series of armed robberies in Kisumu East Sub-County.
The breakthrough came on Sunday 2nd August, 2026 following a targeted operation at Kisumu Rotary College, where the suspects were captured on CCTV footage breaking into a victim’s house while armed with crude weapons including pangas, metal bars, and what appeared to be a pistol.
One of the suspects, Reagan Otieno Silvester, 31, was arrested at the scene. He was identified in the footage carrying a stolen 55-inch Hisense television set.
During interrogation, Otieno led detectives to Rabour area in Kadibo Sub-County, where two more suspects were arrested: Christopher Onyango Okoth, 34 and Fidel Omondi Were, 28. A fourth suspect, Mohamed Ramadhan alias “Moha”, managed to escape by jumping over a perimeter wall. A manhunt is ongoing.
A search of the suspects’ hideouts led to the recovery of assorted items suspected to have been stolen, tools believed to have been used to gain entry into houses, and several rolls of suspected bhang.
At Ramadhan’s rented house in Nyang’ande, officers recovered a toy pistol resembling a firearm hidden under a bed, and several SIM cards. A similar search at Otieno’s house in the same area yielded more items suspected to have been stolen.
In a shocking discovery, an ID card No. 38236309 belonging to Steve Biko Omondi a victim of a previous robbery with violence where a 55-inch TV was stolen, was also recovered from Otieno’s house.
The three suspects were booked at Kasagam Police Station and the recovered items taken to the exhibits store after processing the scenes.
DCI says mobile phones and SIM cards recovered are awaiting forensic analysis to help identify more victims. Efforts to arrest Ramadhan and other accomplices are ongoing.
