One Killed, Four Cows Stolen In South-East Kadiang’a-Nyakach

A tragic incident in the South-East location of East Kadiang’a, Nyakach Constituency, has resulted in one death and the theft of four cows.

The victim, identified as Maurice Otieno Pete, was killed during a raid that occurred on Friday, May 9, in the Jimo East area.

Mr. Darwin Orina, the Assistant County Commissioner for Upper Nyakach, confirmed that the attackers came from Soin-Sigowet.

He explained, “The victim was assaulted, captured, and ultimately killed. There is a certain group that local authorities have been monitoring for some time.”

In response to the incident, the Anti-Stock Theft Unit and other security agencies from Nyakach and neighboring counties have intensified their patrols.

Local residents are being urged to remain vigilant, cooperate, and provide any information to the police that could aid in combating gang-related activities.

“Such incidents could lead to tensions between neighboring communities,” Mr. Orina cautioned while trying to allay security fears.

He assured residents that police are on high alert to restore peace and order.

“We are actively searching for the stolen cows and the individuals involved in the crime. As security providers, we will not tire in our duty to protect the public and their property,” he stated.

Regarding the ongoing investigation into Pete’s murder, Mr. Orina emphasized that those responsible for this brutal act will face the full consequences of the law.

“For now, I encourage residents to be patient as investigations are underway. Our police officers are actively searching for answers,” he added.

As of the latest update, Mr. Orina informed Eye Watch Media that one cow has been recovered, and the search for the remaining cattle continues.
