NAIROBI, Kenya, August 6 –The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has received a significant boost with the signing of a Sh15 million partnership deal with the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB).
This six-month deal, which includes an option for extension, aims to promote both local and international tourism in Kenya through football.
During the signing ceremony, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Rebecca Miano, stated that the Harambee Stars will represent the “Magical Kenya” narrative in their matches.
“Our Harambee Stars are not just athletes; they are ambassadors representing Kenya’s spirit globally,” she emphasized.
Miano further added, “Sports connect millions, especially the youth. Through our partnership with FKF, we are intertwining Kenya’s youth with the tourism story through sports and culture. Every match is an opportunity to showcase our vibrant and beautiful country to the world.”
FKF President Hussein Mohammed praised the partnership, highlighting the growing confidence sponsors have in the current soccer administration.
This announcement follows closely after a 10-year sponsorship agreement with the betting firm SportPesa, worth Sh1.12 billion, for the FKF Premier League, which was signed just a week prior.
The Harambee Stars are currently participating in the Total Energies CAF CHAN 2024 tournament, aiming for one of the sought-after continental silverwares.
This month-long tournament is co-hosted by East African countries Tanzania and Uganda, focusing not only on showcasing local talent but also on highlighting beautiful tourist destinations, rich cultural heritage, and ample business investment opportunities.
