BOMET, Kenya – The national government has committed to fast-tracking the comprehensive rehabilitation of Bomet Stadium to ensure it meets Football Kenya Federation-Premier League (FKF-PL ) standards.
This will enable newly promoted APS Bomet FC to host their home matches this season.
The pledge was made by the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration(CS), Kipchumba Murkomen, who also serves as the club’s patron during a fundraising event for the team at a Nairobi hotel on Wednesday.
The sporting facility, which can carry a 30,000-seater capacity, is a crucial asset for the South Rift region, which requires significant upgrades to accommodate top-flight football and other athletic events.
The urgency of these renovations has been brought into sharp focus, with the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League season kicking off in September.

“We recognise the need for massive refurbishment works on the venue. This is not just for APS Bomet FC to host their home games but also to serve the other needs of the larger Bomet community, including athletics. We are committed to hastening this process to provide a modern, multi-purpose sports complex,” CS Murkomen stated.
To accommodate the immediate need, the FKF-PL debutants will temporarily host their home matches at the Kericho Green Stadium as the facelift work begins at their home ground in Bomet.
CS Murkomen also revealed that President William Ruto will honour his pledge to donate a team bus to the club, to enable them travel across the country for away fixtures.
With the government’s support, the club’s Board Chairman, Bishop Fred Akama, outlined their vision for the team’s future by setting the bar in their debut stint in the top football tier.

In preparation for their historic season, APS Bomet has been active in the transfer market, bolstering its squad with ten new signings.
APS Bomet has been rigorously training for the past three weeks at a camp held at the Kericho Teachers Training College, under the guidance of coach Michael Nam.
The team’s maiden FKF-PL campaign will begin with a tough encounter against another promoted side, Kisii-based rivals Shabana FC scheduled for Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Gusii Stadium.
