Kisumu’s Kogony Lands Council of Elders Welfare Association Elects New Office Bearers

Mr Paul Akeyo, who is the ODM Kisumu County chairman, skipped the function due to unexplained circumstances. The election followed a petition to the Registrar of Societies.

KOGONY, Kisumu West, August 6th –Members of the Kogony Lands Council of Elders’ Welfare Association have elected new office bearers during polls boycotted by former office holders.

In an exercise held at Kirembe Grounds, the members elected Mr Willis Oraro into office unopposed as the Chairman to be deputised by Paul Otieno in the new lineup.

Mr John Onyango was also elected Secretary unopposed by the members at Kirembe grounds while Mr. Joseph Ondu was elected the Assistant Secretary.

Mr Silvanus Okote was elected the Treasurer to be assisted by Bilali Ebrahim, while the position of Organising Secretary went to Charles Okeyo.

Ms Priscila Adhiambo, Daniel Ombam and Joseph Abiola were made Trustees.

His henchmen, who also boycotted the elections, included Maurice Roche, the former Secretary; Samuel Ayiro, the former Treasurer; and Robert Ondu, the former Organising Secretary.

The election followed a petition to the Registrar of Societies.
