Nairobi,23 June 2026-The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested two Kenya Revenue Authority officers for allegedly demanding and receiving a bribe to influence a tax assessment.
Faith Gathoni Njoroge and Tyson Marango Owuor, both stationed at KRA’s Upper Hill offices, were detained after a taxpayer reported they solicited Sh3 million. In exchange, the suspects promised to resolve a Capital Gains Tax assessment worth Sh4.5 million.
Acting on the complaint, EACC officers set up a sting operation at Upper Hill. The suspects were allegedly caught receiving KSh 900,000 as part payment of the bribe. The cash was recovered as evidence.
“Following the complaint, the Commission conducted an operation that led to the arrest of the two officers,” EACC said in a statement.
Njoroge and Owuor are being processed at Integrity Centre as investigations continue. EACC said appropriate action will be taken under the Anti-Bribery Act, 2016 upon conclusion of the probe.
The Commission has intensified operations targeting bribery in revenue and tax administration, warning that officers who solicit bribes risk arrest, prosecution and job loss.
