KILIMANI, Nairobi, 18th November –The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) attached to Parklands, Nairobi has arrested an impostor who has been parading himself as a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) brigadier, hoodwinking innocent citizens and extorting money in the guise of recruitment.
Without ever undergoing military training, the self-styled “KDF Brigadier” Mr Joshua Mutui Muimi, was conning hopeful youths with fake recruitment letters to the Recruit Training School (RTS) in Eldoret.
Following an intelligence tip off, the detectives cornered him inside his rented Kilimani apartment, where he was found fully kitted out in Kenya Air Force regalia.
An elaborate search inside the house led to several discoveries about Mr Muimi as detectives recovered documents bearing the Ministry of Defence logo, including six fake admission letters bearing the same serial number, and seven fingerprint forms.
A Yilmaz Defence Industry ammunition manufacturing manual, among other incriminating materials were also found at the scene.
Mr Muimi is now in custody undergoing processing pending arraignment. The DCI is urging the public to remain vigilant and shun shortcuts in the security sector recruitment process, as genuine enlistment is free, fair, and transparent.
