Ambrose Rachier whitewashed fierce opponents to retain the coveted Gor Mahia top seat for the next four years.
The seasoned lawyer who first took the helm of Gor in 2008 garnered 658 votes against Dolfina Odhiambo, who bagged 456 votes in an election held at the Nyayo National Stadium, Basketball Gymnasium recently.
It was a historic win for Sally Bolo as she became the first-ever woman to be elected the new Vice Chairperson. She bagged 610 votes against her close rival Victor Mbaka, who got 488 votes.
In another surprise twist, Nick Arum floored the incumbent Sam Ocholla to win the Secretary-General’s seat. 582 registered members gave Arum a thumbs up against Ocholla’s 501 votes.

Gerphas Okuku was elected the Honorary Treasurer. Ms Bolo and Okuku will succeed Francis Wasuna and Dolfina Odhiambo, respectively.
Gor Mahia, commonly known as K’Ogalo (a Dholuo word for descendants of Ogalo), was formed on 17 February 1968 as a merger between the Luo Union and Luo Sports Club ( also known as Luo Stars).
They won the Kenya National Football League on their first attempt in 1968 and famously won the African Cup Winners’ Cup in 1987 after they previously reached the final in 1979.
Kogalo have won the Kenyan Premier League a record 20 times and the FKF President’s Cup a record 11 times.

It’s noteworthy that Gor Mahia clinched a rare double by winning the national league unbeaten in 1976, and 39 years later, under the tutelage of coach Frank Nuttall. They have won the Kenyan Premier League a record 21 times, and the FKF President’s Cup a record 11 times.
The elections were held under the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) Notice of 7th March 2025, supervised by the club’s election board, headed by Gichu Wahome, in full compliance with Article 11 of its 2019 Constitution.
In the FKF Premier League 2025 table, Kogalo is placed third and is in pole position to retain the title. Sinisa Mihic-led charges have amassed 43 points, having played 24 games.

Ms Bolo pledged to give Gor Mahia the very best and work with fellow elected leaders and the secretariat to bring the club glory.
“Let us all unite to keep growing the club and make it the best in the African continent and beyond,” she urged.
