DP Kindiki: Govt Eyes Mashinani Growth with 400 New Markets, Youth and Women Agenda

Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has reiterated the government’s commitment towards creating a conducive business environment for small-scale traders to enhance economic growth from the grassroots level.

To assist Mama Mboga and Boda Boda Riders, Prof Kindiki said that the President William Ruto-led administration is currently constructing 400 modern markets across the country.

The markets boast of amenities such as expanded spaces to accommodate many traders, cold storage rooms, mothers’ lactation rooms, social halls, and ICT hubs.

“We are on the right path in fulfilling our pre-election pledges to the people of Kenya. Kenya Kwanza government is keen on completing all the stalled roads, and job creation for millions of our youth,” Prof Kindiki said during an Economic Empowerment Forum for Bodaboda and Women Groups held at Karuri High School in Kiambaa Constituency-Kiambu County yesterday.

Through refined administrative, policy, and regulatory interventions, the Second-In-Command notes that the agricultural sector will realize great production and profitability.

Prof.Kindiki said that 25 modern markets are in various completion stages in Kiambu County.

Host Kiambaa MP Hon. John Wanjiku remarked that his constituents are ready for serious and people-driven development.

“We are proud when we see our women are empowered, bodaboda youth uplifted, and building of an all-inclusive future for the country in line with the Bottoms-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA),” Hon.Wanjiku lauded.

At the function, the women and youth groups hugely benefited from different tools, training, and financial support to sustain their businesses and promote road safety.

Several speakers added that the initiative gives them not only money and tools but also connections and inspiration to perform well.

The leaders who accompanied DP Kindiki were National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, and Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii.

Members of Parliament Ann Muratha (Kiambu Women Rep), Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika Town), Machua Waithaka (Kiambu Town), Sabina Chege (Nominated), GG Kagombe (Gatundu South), Elijah Njoroge Kururia (Gatundu North), Jane Kagiri (Woman Representative, Laikipia), and Reuben Kiborek (Mogotio), among others were in attendance.
