KISUMU, May 27th -Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has issued a passionate appeal to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporters to attend the party’s upcoming rally at Kirembe Grounds on May 31, framing the event as a pivotal moment for both the party and the nation.
Speaking on Wednesday after a strategic meeting with ODM officials from Kisumu Central, the party’s National Chairperson emphasised that the rally is not just a gathering but a cornerstone for consolidating the party’s influence.
She confirmed that all top national leaders will be in attendance, and preparations are already well advanced.
“We made a stopover at our regional office here in Kisumu to fine-tune plans for Sunday’s event at Kirembe Grounds. This is a major ODM rally, and every national leader will be present,” Wanga stated.
She added that the party’s regional organising committee and Kisumu leadership will hold a media briefing on Thursday to unveil the full agenda.
Beyond the fanfare of the rally, Wanga used the occasion to stress the need to rejuvenate ODM at the grassroots level, calling on local leaders to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.

She noted that a strong bottom-up structure is essential for the party to retain its national relevance.
The governor was flanked by local MCAs and leaders, including Kisumu Central MP Joshua Oron, who echoed Wanga’s sentiments.
Oron described the May 31 rally as a defining test for the party’s unity and future direction.
“We are here today at the regional ODM office to prepare our people for the 31st. This is a deciding moment for our party leadership and a defining moment for Kenya as a whole,” Oron said.
He urged every supporter from Kisumu County and beyond to turn up in large numbers, emphasising that the rally would address critical political and organisational issues affecting both ODM and the country.
While the full agenda remains under wraps, party insiders hint at major announcements regarding internal reforms and the party’s role in the national political landscape.
Wanga and Oron both underscored that the Kirembe Grounds event will serve as a launchpad for reinforcing ODM’s grassroots machinery, ensuring that the party remains the dominant political force in the lake region and beyond.
