DCI Arrests Eight Police Officers  Over Suspected Links to Lost and Found Vehicle

 Officers apprehended after a high-value Toyota Land Cruiser V8 vanishes from and mysteriously reappears at Maseno Police Station.

MASENO, Kisumu, September 23rd– The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in collaboration with the County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) and the Central Police Station (CPS) Kisumu, have arrested eight policemen implicated in the theft and recovery of a high-value vehicle from Maseno Police Station.

The investigation was launched following the reported theft of a black Toyota Land Cruiser V8, registration number KDL 366N. The vehicle was discovered missing from the parking yard of the station on the morning of September 16th, 2025.

The plot thickened, however, when the same vehicle was later found abandoned at the nearby Maseno Shopping Centre. It was subsequently returned to the station yard, with official records logging its recovery. 

This peculiar sequence of events, prompted a deeper probe by the DCI, leading to the dramatic arrests.

The police constables, all placed in custody at Kisumu Central Police Station, have been identified as; Shaban Omar, Stanley Kosgei, Fredric Lubatse, Harrison Muchiri and Charles Mutahi.

Others include Jackson Lugadili, Elphas Sigoi, and Isaac Kipgeno.

The implicated officers remain in custody as the DCI continues its investigation, with formal interrogations pending, and charges to be preferred in connection with the incident.
