UASIN GISHU,22nd Sept 2026 -Police in Eldoret have launched investigations into the fire incident that occurred at Hill School High School early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters from the County Government of Uasin Gishu helped put out a huge fire that was rapidly spreading through the students’ dormitory housing about 340 students.
The County Director of Fire and Disaster Management, Fredrick Serem, said they received a distress call from a resident at around 5:09 a.m. and arrived at the scene within five minutes. The fire was contained through a joint effort by the county fire brigade, police and members of the public.
“There were no casualties or fatalities, and all students are safe,” Serem said.
He said the fire was completely extinguished at around 6.00 a.m., with several properties salvaged.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be established, and police are continuing with investigations.
