MP James K’Oyoo Kicks Off Meet-the-People Tour in North East Kano, Donates School Bus

MUHORONI,June 2026 -Muhoroni Member of Parliament James Onyango K’Oyoo on Tuesday launched his “Meet the Constituents” tour in the newly created North East Kano Sub-County, using the stop to hand over a brand-new school bus to Olik Oliero Secondary School and outline major infrastructure projects for the area.

The sub-county headquarters is located at Masogo Market.

K’Oyoo began the tour at Olik Oliero Secondary School in Kabar West Sub-location, Kasongo Village where, he presented the school bus to students and the school management, saying the facility would ease transport challenges and improve access to co-curricular activities for learners.

Addressing residents, parents and students, the legislator laid out a raft of development projects earmarked for Muhoroni Constituency.

“The government will prioritize maintenance of the Kombok-Oroba-Kaeli road and the full tarmacking of the Chemusoi-Miwani-Kasongo-Ombeyi-Ahero road,” K’Oyoo remarked.

Both roads have been key bottlenecks for farmers and traders moving produce to markets in Kisumu and beyond.

K’Oyoo also announced additional projects set to roll out soon. These include the disbursement of bursary cheques to needy students, drilling of a borehole at Magare area to address water shortages, and setting up offices at the North East Kano Sub-County headquarters for the newly posted Deputy County Commissioner (DCC).

On politics, the MP said he is ready to face his opponents at the ballot in 2027. He expressed confidence that his development record will carry him to a second term.

“My opponents cannot match my development record. It will speak for itself, and Muhoroni constituents will re-elect me,” K’Oyoo said to cheers from the crowd.

North East Kano DCC Beatrice Bekeyo assured residents that her office will work closely with security agencies to curb crime in the area.

“We will prioritize cracking down on criminal gangs known locally as “Katalang’” and on chang’aa brewers operating illicit dens across the sub-county,” Ms Bekeyo said.

On Wednesday 3rd June, the “Meet the Constituents” tour is expected to cover other areas such as Fort Tenan location where there will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Ochoria police post.

Other activities will include site handing over cum groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Affordable housing and other amenities at Muhoroni town centre.

K’Oyoo will also oversee the delivery and handing over of another school bus to Our Lady Queen of Peace Secondary School Muhoroni, as he seeks to get direct feedback from residents on service delivery and priority projects.

The Tuesday’s event was graced by several local leaders and officials including Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) branch official Peter Kwach, Kabar Central Chief Carilus Okaka, Kabar West Chief Kauko, the Masogo Officer Commanding Station, and other administrators from the new sub-county.
