We Are In Govt to Stay for the Long Haul, Interior PS Dr Raymond Omollo Affirms the Nyanza Region’s Stance

He congratulated the multitude of Kisumu residents who thronged the stadium for paying their last respects to the enigma of Kenyan politics with the utmost decorum and respect deserveth.

MAMBOLEO, Kisumu, October 18th -Interior Permanent Secretary(PS) Dr Raymond Omollo has reiterated the Nyanza region’s unwavering commitment to firmly stay in the broad-based government of President William Ruto for the long haul.

This, he says, follows the recent high profile discussions with the ODM top hierarchy who have also backed the resolution.

Alluding to similar sentiments echoed by the Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum (CS) Opiyo Wandayi yesterday in Bondo, Dr Omollo stressed that the late former premier Raila Odinga didn’t make a mistake by joining President Ruto to form the broad-based government.

“Let no one have any delusions of taking the supporters and the people of this region out of government. It was Raila’s wish and we must grant him that,” he stated during a media briefing alongside the public viewing of Raila’s body at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Mamboleo, Kisumu today.

He further emphasized that: “We are safe in the hands of President Ruto. We want to thank him for giving our fallen hero and son a befitting send off well deserveth his stature.”

Dr Omollo eulogised the former ODM party leader as a true democrat who loved peace; “and he left us in peace as a country and we will live up to that legacy.”

He expressed his glowing appreciation to the multitude of Kisumu residents who thronged the stadium to pay their last respects to the enigma of Kenyan politics with the utmost decorum and respect due.

“They have lived up to it. From here the body will be flown to Bondo in evening for the final burial ceremony. We urge the people of Bondo to follow this precedence set and maintain that calm we have seen since his final journey began in India.”

This will enable those who have queued up to view the remains of the fallen hero to obey his wishes by upholding peace and calm.

He also commended the youth who coordinated well with security agencies to maintain law and order.

Dr Omollo confirmed that President Ruto will lead the nation in the final funeral ceremony, to be held at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) tomorrow.

Raila, the icon and towering statesman remains will be interred at Kang’o Kajaramogi next to his mother Mary Ajuma Odinga and father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

The security team will take care of everyone, and it’s all our duty to fulfil his wishes according to traditions,” Dr Omollo concluded.
