Kampala City Boxing Club emerged as the overall winners of the inaugural Kakwacha tournament over the weekend.
The gallant pugilists, led by the team captain Kassim Mulunji, secured 35 points during the Mama Grace Onyango Social Hall event.
Kisumu County boxing team came second overall with a total of 27 points followed by Nakuru amateur boxing team with 10 points.

Mr Mulunji, fighting in the featherweight division, led his team in securing most of the bouts.
The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of sports, Beatrice Odongo, who attended the event, said that the government of Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o is keen on uplifting boxing in the area.
Odongo said they will ensure the county boxing federation secures a second boxing ring to promote the sport.
“Kisumu County has, over the years, produced superb boxers who have represented the country in local and international events,” she said.
The Patron of the Kakwacha Group of Companies, Mrs Pauline Akwacha, promised to promote and sponsor the event in future.

Akwacha urged youths from Kisumu to take boxing more seriously. She added that sports ensure that youths do not engage in evil activities.
The Kisumu County Boxing Federation Secretary, Dominic Owiti, and the treasurer, David Ouma, lauded the Kisumu side for the splendid show.
They called on more corporate organisations to sponsor boxing in Kisumu County.
Silas Onyango of Kisumu County boxing club emerged the best overall male boxer, while Zahra Ugalla from Kampala was declared the best female boxer.
