Let’s Continue Working Together to Enhance Kisumu’s Security, County Commissioner Leparmorijo urges Residents

KISUMU, Kenya, October 21st –Residents of Kisumu County have been encouraged to collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order.

This partnership among community elders, local leaders, and National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) is expected to enhance the region’s socioeconomic growth and stability.

During the national Mashujaa Day celebrations at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Sports Ground in Kisumu, County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo also urged Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o-led administration to improve street lighting as a measure to reduce insecurity.

“I would also like to thank the youth for demonstrating the utmost decorum during the public viewing of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. We appreciate those who provided necessary support to the security agencies at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium and its surroundings,” he stated.

President William Ruto led the main event, themed ‘Transforming Lives Under Sustainable Energy Solutions,’ at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County, with Senegal’s President Diomaye Fiaye and Mozambique’s Premier Maria Levy serving as chief guests.

Mr Leparmorijo also mentioned that the validation exercise for the NYOTA program has been postponed to a later date. He reminded those who have not cleared their Hustler Fund balances that their applications will not be approved.

“I urge boda boda operators to adhere to the established working hours and continue helping to improve security in the area,” he added, while addressing an attack on a security officer that occurred on Monday morning.

Mr Leparmorijo called on residents to maintain peace and calm as the nation mourns the loss of the late Raila Odinga.

Participants enjoyed performances of dances, songs, and poems by entertainers from various groups and schools. The event was attended by senior officials from different agencies, along with county government representatives in the region.
