KISUMU, Kenya– The Nyanza Regional Security Commander, Evelyne Gisiri, has affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring safety and stability in the region.
While advocating for peace and unity, Gisiri noted that: “A secure environment attracts investment and creates opportunities for our people.”
She spoke during a meeting of top security chiefs and key stakeholders, which was convened in Kisumu today, to strengthen collaboration and enhance security measures in the Nyanza region.
“Security is a shared responsibility. We urge residents to continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities to prevent crime,” Gisiri said alongside the event held at the Mama Grace Onyango Social Centre in Kisumu.

The high-level meeting brought together representatives from the National Police Service, the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA), and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Authority (EAC).
County security teams, local leaders, and community stakeholders were also present to address emerging security challenges and foster peace.
The forum focused on strategies to combat gang-related crimes, cattle rustling, illicit brews, and recent demonstrations, which have been a concern in some parts of the region.
The regional security bosses emphasised the need for community policing and intelligence-sharing to curb insecurity.
They lauded the cordial working relationships, noting that lasting peace is key for socioeconomic growth.
Nyanza residents were further urged to maintain tranquillity and continue supporting security efforts for sustainable development.
“We will continue to hold regular security reviews and strengthen partnerships between agencies and the general public,” they assured
