KISUMU, Sept 2026 -President William Ruto has fulfilled a pledge to the Chairman of the Luo Council of Elders, Mzee Odungi Randa, by donating a brand new Toyota Prado TX to ease his mobility across the region and East Africa. A section of staff from the Office of the Interior Security Principal Secretary, Dr Raymond Omollo, delivered the vehicle on Saturday, just days after Ker Odungi Randa made the request during a meeting at the State Lodge in Homa Bay on Wednesday evening.
An elated Ker Odungi Randa expressed his gratitude to the President, saying the gift would greatly enhance his movement.
“First of all, I appreciate the gift from His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Kenya, William Ruto. The gift he has given to me will enhance my movements,” he said.
The Luo Council of Elders chair noted that he would now be able to traverse the region and beyond with ease.
“I shall be going to Tanzania to check on Luos living there; I’ll be going to Uganda; I’ll be going to Mombasa; I’ll be going to Nairobi and many other different parts of the Republic,” he stated.
Ker Odungi Randa also prayed for the President’s well-being. “May the Almighty God give him good health, strength and a good heart to work for the people of Kenya,” he said.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at Odungi’s residence in Nyando Constituency on Saturday, Charles Osako, a staff member from Dr Omollo’s office, confirmed the delivery.
“Today we are here to gift the Chairman of Luo Council of Elders, Mzee Odungi Randa, a vehicle. Mzee has been having challenges moving around the country and the region,” said Osako.
Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, alias Jalango, who attended the State Lodge meeting, recounted the moment the request was made.
“At the tail end of the meeting, Ker Odungi Randa made a request to the president to kindly get him a car to help him in his movement, a request I thought was a bit wild,” Jalango stated on Facebook.
He confirmed that the President, in his usual calm and soft voice, heeded the request and assured Ker Odungi Randa he would receive the vehicle by Friday.
“Today, Saturday, just like that, Dr Omollo’s team has delivered the vehicle. A brand new Toyota Prado TX. Ker Odungi Randa can now traverse the four counties of Luo Nyanza and beyond with a lot of ease,” said the legislator.
The donation highlights ongoing engagement between the presidency and Luo Nyanza leaders through the office of the Interior PS.
